Please read all the below information very carefully so you are prepared with the correct chair style and understand the cancellation policy before you submit the confirmation form below.

Join Sierra Shores from the Rusted Roan Design Co. for the 3 day beginner western chair upholstery class.

This workshop is great for those starting out in upholstery and for those looking to add to their upholstery skill set. It is recommended for those who have either completed a one-day workshop, are in the Online Upholstery Membership Group, or have had some previous exposure to upholstering. The suitable chair types are small settee/benches, open arm chairs, parson’s chairs, rocking chairs and side/occasional chairs.

All workshops participants will receive a copy of the “Getting Started In Western Upholstery Handbook”.

The workshop is limited to 5 students for higher quality instruction. This is a non-sewing western design upholstery class, no experience necessary.

Members of our Online Upholstery Membership Group have priority registration for in-person workshops.

What is included in the class:

The use of upholstery tools, compressors, instruction for the three days, educational information and a deli-style lunch.

The class will begin at 9am and go until 5pm each day, typically finishing earlier on the final day. Each day will include a one hour lunch break.

Prior to this western chair upholstery class, students must submit for approval a picture of the project they would like to work on. Choosing the right chair to reupholster will help you complete the project within the allotted time frame (3 days). You will be directed to the website information page with a link to submit a photo of your chair, once you submit your payment. This MUST be submitted prior to the start of the workshop. If your chair does not meet the recommended chair types or is not refinished ready to start upholstering you will void your position in the workshop. Failing to submit this will also void your position in the workshop and no refund will be issued as per our Cancellation Policy (listed below the pricing plans at bottom of page)

Day 1: Arrival and chair set up between 8:30 and 9 am. Introductions and getting started on your project. You will become familiar with the process, tools and get started on your project and upholstering. By the end of day one, spring systems/foundations are in place and the seat of your chair is completed. The instruction day ends at approximately 5pm.

Day 2: Work on your project and continue to make progress. The seat and inside back of your piece should be completed or close to completion.

Day 3: You’ve made good progress. We will be working on outside backs and decorative tacks. You should be finishing up your piece today.
